VIDEO: A Tough Winter on Roads and Cars

We could get up to 90 inches of snow by the end of the season, but the real wear on Minnesota roadways is in the fluctuating freeze-thaw shift as we get into spring. Subzero nights and balmy, 30 degree days combined with congested roadways are sure to cause terrible potholes.

Public works departments sift through public tips on the worst potholes, spot filling the lighter traffic streets and resurfacing the heavier traffic roads and highways. But a sustainable, cost-effective solution involves using our transportation infrastructure to its capacity and developing mass-transit alternatives.
