VIDEO: The Countryside’s New Faces

Greater Minnesota is seeing a wave of demographic changes. Census data show that new Americans are bolstering some countryside populations. 

Lyon County in southwest Minnesota saw 50 percent jumps or greater in its Hispanic, Asian and African American populations. Marshall, its largest city, is home to Schwan's and other food processors that attract a diverse workforce. The community has set up several programs to help newcomers integrate and ensure a new generation of Minnesotans are well educated and ready for a wide variety of career opportunities.
