VIDEO: Movies on Main Street

December 29, 2010 By Tom Niemisto, Video Production Specialist

The Historic State Theater is a charming movie house in Jackson, Minnesota.  It's been in operation for nearly 80 years, but Mike Schwartz, the new owner, is facing the same dilemma of many rural communities.  He wants to deliver the best possible theater experience with modern quality picture and sound, but a renovation to a digital projector system would be an expensive proposition.

Rural communities are striving to keep up with the newest technology developments and maintain thriving downtowns. Access to broadband technology, equitable energy distribution, and updated infrastructure are important choices to make that will enhance economic development on small town Main Streets across Minnesota.
