VIDEO: Consequences of Cutting Budgets

Conservative lawmakers want to reduce Minnesota's budget deficit by slashing revenue sharing with local governments and underpaying state and city employees. This could have a catastrophic effect on the state's middle class and undermine unions across Minnesota. Policy makers need a progressive approach to address the deficit and to move Minnesota into a 21st century infrastructure.

    This is really this silliest thing I have seen regarding budget cuts. What the video is saying is that the private sector employees - some of whom have been laid off, had hours or wages decreased, or who are working more hours because the employer is making do with fewer workers - are supposed to sacrifice more so that public employees can not feel any pain. They can have their bundle of goods decreased and that’s okay as long as government doesn’t shrink. If you lose a public sector job, find one in the private sector. If it pays less, you were overpaid in the public sector. Sorry.
