VIDEO: Community Wind Farms

Renewable energy in Minnesota is developing into a booming business and will need to grow to comply with the Renewable Energy Standard.  Many of the wind farms in Southwestern Minnesota and the Dakotas are owned by foreign utility companies who bring the energy dollars out of the U.S. But policy makers, developers, and economists want the economic benefit to stay in Minnesota.  Wind farms that are built, owned and maintained by members of the community in which the energy is consumed get a much higher value, both in terms of jobs and economic development.
