Video: Fractured Dreams

October 04, 2013 By Briana Johnson, Video Production Specialist

The U.S. immigration system leaves too many Minnesota families in limbo. Fear of deportation keeps children from achieving their full potential in school and their parents from fulfilling their economic dreams.

There's only so much state policymakers can do. Minnesota has already passed a state level dream act granting undocumented children of immigrants in-state tuition rates. Only federal action can create a true path to citizenship.

This weekend, Minnesotans will join thousands of marchers in more than 90 rallies nationwide calling for commonsense immigration reform. The U.S. Senate has already passed a comprehensive bipartisan bill, but House action is needed for it to reach the president's desk.

After calling Minnesota home for many years, contributing to our communities and economy, immigrants shouldn't have to live in fear of having their families torn apart.
