VIDEO: Year of the Co-op

Being cooperatively organized helped many businesses through the economic downturn. Cooperatives pool risks, gain economies of scale and are subject to more democratic decision making organization wide. 

Because of their potential to help grow economic opportunity, the United Nations declared 2012 the International Year of the Cooperative.

We checked in with a local food co-op with a focus on local food and member volunteerism to find out what makes co-ops stable through tough economies.
