Video: Home Care Workers Fight for a Union

Purple T-shirts filled the parking lot as caregivers, care recipients and supporters gathered to support home care workers as they filed thousands of signed union cards with the Bureau of Mediation Services. Home care workers delivered the cards, and shared their stories about the working conditions that prompted them to seek to form a union. These workers want a voice on the job, to be treated fairly, and to be empowered to provide quality healthcare. Many personal care attendants are not given any health benefits, time off or paid sick days. By filing these cards, home care workers triggered the largest union election in Minnesota history.
