Joe Sheeran, Communications Director

Joe Sheeran has been with Minnesota 2020 since 2009, first as a mass media fellow then as communications director. He helped launched the organization’s video platform and works daily on messaging and long-term communications strategy.
Joe has a passion for creative writing and weaving an effective narrative to illustrate how social policies impact communities, skills he honed during more than a decade in journalism, which included stops at KDLT in Sioux Falls, SD, KWCH in Wichita, KS and WHYY’s Delaware Tonight.
Joe then transitioned to political communications and public affairs. As communications director for the Delaware Democratic Party, he taught activists and first-time political candidates how to craft a strong message and effectively communicate that position in well-coordinated media campaigns.
Raised in Philadelphia, he moved to the Twin Cities with his wife, a Worthington native, in 2008. Joe received a Minnesota teaching license in secondary social studies in June 2012, and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Teaching at Hamline University.
