Jim Weygand

Jim and his wife of 42 years Joanne moved to Minnesota from New York in 1971. They lived in Rochester for 26 years before moving to Carver in 1997. They raised 2 children James who is currently living in Los Angeles with his wife Jody, and a daughter Chris who is living with her daughter in Shoreview, MN. Jim spent 27 years working for IBM as an engineer, and was the engineering manager of a semiconductor line in Rochester when he left IBM in 1994. He also worked for FSI International in Chaska before retiring in 2007. He received a BS in Physics in 1967, MS in Electrical Engineering in 1981, and MS in Management of Technology in 1994.

During their time in Rochester Jim served 18 years on the City’s Citizen Advisory on Transit. The group was responsible for setting policy for Rochester’s Fixed Bus Route System and Olmsted County’s Dial A Ride System. In 1999 after serving on Carver's Planning Commission he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Council. In 2000 he was elected Mayor and has served in that position through 2010. Since retiring he has become more involved in public service and is also a member of the County's Library Board, serves on the board of the The Community Foundation of Carver County, serves on the Beacon Council for School district 112, and is involved with several other groups. Jim is also a regular contributor to the Chaska Herald the local weekly newspaper.
